Venue
Viewings take place in the theatre of the prestigious National Film and Television School (NFTS) located at Station Road, Beaconsfield HP9 1LG
There is limited parking availability at the School with parking available on adjacent roads.
Karin Farnworth, Head of Marketing & PR at the National Film and Television School, who has supported the Film Society project with enthusiasm, energy and patience, wrote:
“The School was overwhelmed by the response to its proposal that a Film Society was the best way to connect more closely with the Beaconsfield community and was delighted to find volunteers eager to get involved. Without the energy and enthusiasm of the initial group of volunteers, some of whom are still serving as officers of the present committee, the Society simply could not have been established so rapidly – we all owe them a great debt of thanks.”
Led by Nik Powell, one of the UK’s leading producers (Mona Lisa, The Crying Game, Ladies in Lavender), the NFTS has some 200 full-time students, another two dozen part-timers on the Script Development course and around a thousand a year on its short courses.
The only UK film school with its own film and television studios, and post-production facilities rivalling those of professional companies, its talented community of students makes over a hundred films a year on courses that are over 90% practical and unlike anything offered at any other UK film school.
Top film and television people teach at the School such as Stephen Frears (The Queen) and Brian Tufano (Billy Elliot) and there are many famous alumni such as Nick Park (creator of Wallace and Gromit), BAFTA-winning director David Yates, director of the final four Harry Potter films and multi-Oscar nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins (No Country for Old Men) to name but a few.
