Legendary centre half and 1990 England Team Captain, Terry Butcher is the main patron of Combat2Coffee. Renowned for his uncompromising, fearless and commanding style of play, Terry will be joining us to discuss his illustrious career playing for Ipswich Town, Rangers FC and Coventry City, as well as England.
This will be followed by a screening of The Three Tenors 1990 concert, and an accompanying documentary.
This year, it is 36 years since this concert of The Three Tenors -José Carreras, Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, conducted by maestro Zubin Mehta was staged at the Terme di Caracalla in
Rome, on the eve of the 1990 World Cup Final. The concert, watched by a global audience of 800 million, changed the perception of classical music and opera forever.
The accompanying enthralling documentary The Three Tenors – from Caracalla to the World, features interviews with José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Zubin Mehta, Pavarotti‘s widow Nicoletta Mantovani, Lalo Shifrin, Brian Large, Mario Dradi, Paul Potts, Sir Bryn Terfel, Norman Lebrecht, Didier de Cottignies and many more. Previously unpublished backstage material shows the tenors unadorned and offers a fascinating insight into what took place beyond the spotlight in Rome 1990, taking a completely new look at the concert legends. For the first time, they talk about their rivalries and friendships and life as an opera star.
