USA 2025. Channing Tatum once again proves his serious physical comedy chops in this outlandish true story of American veteran Jeffrey Manchester, who, after being jailed for robbing a series of MacDonald’s, breaks free and evades capture by hiding for months in a Toys ’R’ Us. Cianfrance’s previous films have often lingered on ambivalent but deeply sympathetic romances (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines). Roofman is no exception to this rule. A delightfully insufferable Peter Dinklage, and a quiet, moving Kirsten Dunst, support Tatum’s antics. Running time: 126 minutes.
