Storyline

With mulled wine and mince pies.  Set in Sicily in the 1860s, when the Risorgimento unified the many states of Italy to form a single kingdom. It traces the decline of the aristocratic Prince of Salina (the Leopard) and the rise to eminence of the wealthy former peasant Don Calogero Sedera. Prince Salina’s nephew Tancredi assures his own future by marrying Don Sedera’s beautiful daughter Angelica. The film is gorgeous with excellent performances by Burt Lancaster, Alan Delon and Claudia Cardinale. A lavish production with beautiful costumes and incredible attention to detail. Running time:186 minutes. Italian/English with subtitles.
