Storyline

Iran/France/Germany 2024.

This film centres on the 2022 Iranian protests sparked by economic hardship and exacerbated by the death of a young Kurdish woman in police custody, Mahsa Amini, for not wearing her hijab properly. We view life under an oppressive authoritarian regime through the eyes of a lawyer, with ambitions to become a judge in the revolutionary court, his wife and two daughters. The tensions among them are palpable when conflicting views and secrecy abound. The film’s writer and director was imprisoned in Iran but is now living in exile in Germany.   Running time: 168 minutes. Farsi (Persian) with subtitles.
