Storyline

Based on the true story of an inspirational middle school teacher, Sergio, at a poorly run school in Matamoros, a desolate Mexican border town rife with violence and drug use. Neither pupils nor staff are motivated, and the school produces some of the worst academic scores in the country. Undeterred, Sergio takes to his job with gusto and uses an unorthodox approach to teaching his sixth-form class. His methods start to bear fruit, his pupils become keener and do better. What will the school principal think, and how will this go down with the local education authorities?   Spanish with subtitles.   Running time 126 minutes.
